Essay: To begin with, what’s a biome?
A biome is a area of certain animals and plants. A biome has to have certain climate, soil types, water resources and geology. There are a lot biomes around the world. Ours is Tundra. Tundra is found in North Pole of Asia and Canada, Greenland and Northern alaska. Tundras are always cold. Summer is only 24 days. Winter temparature is around -36 degrees. In summer it heats up like 3-12 degrees. Howevert summer temparature is warm enough to grow plants and flowers. İn Tundras there is not much rain. İt usually snows. Unfortunantly there are threarts to Tundras. Like ; global warming, ozone deplation ,air pollution ,exploration of oil, gas and minerals ,oil spills ,buildings androads ,invasive species. We need to stop all these things to have more Tundras.
There are a quite few plants tahat grows in Tundras. We can found 10 species.Linchens, sedges, shrubs, mosses,Calliergon giganteum, grasses, cotton grass, cussion plants, dark red leaves, seeds. Againts to the cold weather these plants can still grow. However they only grow in summer. Aleutian Shield Fern, Aleutian Wormwood, Sessile-Leaved Scurvy-Grass, Bering Sea Douglasia, Calder's Lovage are some types that are endangered species of plants.
There are also animals living in Tundras. Like; reindeer, siberian dogs, seals, sea lions, penguins, polar bear, musk oxen, whales, wallrus and narwhales. These animals have a thick layer of fat. So that they can survive in the cold weather. You dont wantto forget the endangered species dont you? Grizzly bears, polar bears and foxes are endangered.
